Put practice on the calendar

Truly productive people don’t work from a to-do list; they work from a calendar. By scheduling a 20 minute block of practice in advance we're making a really important first step that forces us to think objectively about when we’ll actually fit this into our busy schedule. 

Unlike generic to-do lists, which only express intent, assigning a small block of time on this week's calendar forces us to take the pivotal first step of objectively analyzing our current commitments and responsibilities to find the time to invest in our personal growth.

Practice deliberately

It’s important to realize that masterful performances are really just the product of masterful practice, not natural ability. Everyone agrees that in order to improve a skill we must practice often, but research now shows that the quality of practice ultimately makes the difference.

When we commit to practice we must do everything we can to be fully present and focused during each session. This means turning on airplane mode and doing whatever is necessary to eliminate distractions during our short practice sessions.

Track Multiplier

The skill multiplier is a number between 1-10 that goes up when you train consistently and down when you slack. The higher the multiplier the more points you earn per session. This is meant to encourage consistent practice.

Tip: Trends help you quickly see which skills are at risk of slipping. Skills with the lowest weekly trend are moved to the top of the list so you can schedule them first.
